Many people in today's world believe that because of their past lifestyle of sin that they have no hope for salvation and eternal life in heaven with God. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. God is a loving Father, who wants in the worst way for each of His creations to have an intimate and loving relationship with Him. He is our Heavenly Father, and as such interacts with His creations as any great father would. God loves, cares, forgives, protects, gives guidance and direction, reprimands, gives hope, helps us in troubled times, and much, much more. God showed how loving He truly is by sending His only Son Jesus to earth to be born, and then to die on the cross as a sinless sacrifice for the past and future sins of all mankind - and to offer Salvation to all those who believe and have faith in His son Jesus. This is the free gift that God offers to all people, if they just ask for the forgiveness of their past sins and sincerely want to make Jesus a part of their life. For if they accept God's free gift, and truly want to change their life for the better, God will send his Holy Spirit to dwell in this persons life, and transform them over time to a more loving and caring person, and one who is committed to living a less sinful life. People need to not only want to have a future relationship with Jesus Christ, but also want to seriously change their life for the better. To believe in Jesus is to believe that: 1) He was, and is, the Son of God, 2) That He died on the cross for the forgiveness of all our past and future sins, 3) That Jesus was buried, and then resurrected from the dead by His Father on the 3rd day, and 4) That Jesus is their true Savior and Redeemer.
An amazing fact that many people are not aware of is that Jesus not only was crucified on the cross and resurrected on the 3rd day, but that he returned to earth shortly after His death. In fact, Jesus was resurrected from the dead by His Father on the 3rd day as He had predicted, and then appeared on 12 different occasions to anywhere from 1 to 500 people each time. All of these facts are mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible by different authors, and all of the documents are very consistent in their descriptions of the events.
One of the things that gives the greatest credibility to both the Bible and Jesus (the Son of God) is that approximately 450-1400 years prior to Jesus' birth, several of the greatest prophets of the time (Moses, David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Micah, Zechariah, Malachi and others) made predictions as to the coming Messiah's future life. As a matter of fact, over 300+ of these very precise prophecies of the Messiah were made in the Old Testament, and much later fulfilled in the New Testament with amazing accuracy by Jesus' life. Hard to believe, but again so well documented.
So, if you do not know enough about Jesus Christ or the Bible, select the Go To Homepage button at the end of this article and read the article "Why Believe in the Bible and Life Of Jesus Christ." It is a very factual piece about why you should absolutely believe in both. I really think it will provide great enlightenment to you, and well worth your time.
If you want to read the Bible yourself, which I think is a great idea, I would ask that you start with the New Testament section of the Bible about Jesus Christ's life. Further, start with the Gospel of Matthew and continue on from there. It is, in my opinion the 'Greatest Story Ever Told'. If any of your readings raise questions, refer to the notes at the bottom of each page of the Bible for an explanation.
In conclusion, be certain that God wants as many of his creations to join him in Eternal life. He knows very well that all mankind are sinful creatures that are unable to earn their salvation by their own good deeds. This single message is mentioned many times in the New Testament of the Bible. This is why he sent his sinless son to die on the cross as a sinless sacrifice for the forgiveness of all of our past and future sins. What God wants is for each person to desire to lead a better and less sinful life going forward. But, just know that there definitely is 'Hope'. One must make a commitment to know Jesus Christ, and establish an intimate relationship with Him over time. They must also understand who Jesus really was and still is (the son of God), and what He did for all mankind, and why. You need to believe that Jesus was resurrected from the dead by His father on the 3rd day, and that Jesus is your Savior and Redeemer. This is why the reading of the New Testament is such a good starting point.
Another suggestion (and it is just a suggestion) is to consult with a pastor at a local Christian church in your area, or a friend who is very literate in the Bible. Do not be afraid to approach a pastor/friend, as they would love to speak with someone who needs some spiritual advice and guidance. Just never forget that 'Jesus is the answer'. In John 14:6 of the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus states, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." So do not miss your chance to spend eternal life in heaven with your creator, family, and friends.
