This coming Easter Sunday is a day to be thankful, as it commemorates the Resurrection from the dead of our Lord Jesus Christ - The Son of God. Jesus was fully God and fully Man, and in my opinion, the greatest man to ever appear on earth. God sent His Son Jesus to earth to be born, and then die on the cross as the perfect and blameless substitute for our past and future sins; and to offer the free gift of eternal life in heaven to those who truly believe and have faith in His Son. Jesus died so that we could be reconciled with His Father and Himself for eternal life in heaven, if we just accept His Father's free gift, and ask forgiveness of our past sins.
The life of Jesus was filled with many wondrous deeds and miracles. His hundreds of miracles (40 of which are recorded by several authors in the New Testament of the Bible) truly attest to the fact that Jesus was not an ordinary man, but one given powers from His Father above.
The resurrection of Jesus on the 3rd day after His death on the cross is probably one of the most compelling reasons why many people believe in Jesus, and who He actually was. The whole resurrection story is verified by Jesus' 12 separate post-resurrection appearances shortly after His death to
1 to 500 people each time. This is validated by several New Testament writings by different authors found throughout the years - as long ago as early AD times. One of the things that I personally believe that validates Jesus' resurrection is the fact that His apostles after his death were afraid and in hiding - wondering what to do next; as the one that they loved and believed to be the Messiah had just died. But Jesus appears to them several times after His resurrection, and then commissions them to take His 'Word' and make it known to all nations. He tells them, though, to wait for His Holy Spirit's baptism and powers, before they embark on their journey to take His word to the different parts of the world. His apostles remember what Jesus had said when he had been with them – that He was the Son of God and that He would rise from the dead on the 3rd day. Knowing then (with certainty) that He was, who He had always claimed to be, they go out to preach His 'Name and Word' in an earnest and fervent manner; knowing that many of them would (and were) to be killed for there beliefs and actions. Their mission though was successful, and today some 2.4 billion of a total 7.6 billion total people in the world call themselves Christians.
So this week, honor and praise our Lord Jesus for everything that he has done for you by dying a sacrificial death for your sins, and offering Eternal Life if we should believe and have faith in Him as our Savoiur.
Love You
